Sennelier's gum arabic comes in grains, in a 100gr jar. Gum arabic is an acacia resin, already present in the very manufacture of watercolor (and gouache). It serves as a binder and keeps the paint wet.
Gum arabic is diluted with water between 10 to 35% depending on use.
To make your washes, add 2 or 3 drops of your preparation to your water. This will make your watercolor flowier and give shine to your colors.
The richer the paint in gum arabic, the longer it will take to dry.
Be careful, a small amount of gum is enough because if you put too much, the paint becomes sticky and cracks when it dries!
