Intense silk colors
Thanks to its very concentrated and luminous colors, you can color animal fibers such as silk and wool.
H Dupont paints are very intense, and have great resistance to light and time. You will also be surprised by its resistance to washing after fixing in the oven.
H Dupont paints are based on acid dyes.
How to use H Dupont silk paint?
Pure or diluted, H Dupont paints are easy to use, the dye completely penetrates the fiber, which allows your creation to have a face and a back of the same quality.
Use in painting:
- It is important to stretch your silk well in order to have an impeccable finish.
- The paint is applied with a brush, you can also use the seams to delimit the areas.
- Once your silk is painted, it is important to fix it in the oven for +/- 1h30.
Use in dyeing:
- Make a dye bath composed of water, 1 to 5% white vinegar and 0.5 to 15% H Dupont Classic colors, depending on the desired intensity.
To dye wool:
- Add 5% vinegar at 7% dry weight to be tinted. So, for 100 grams of wool, add 5ml of vinegar.
- Then add the paint, 15%. So 15ml for 100 grams of wool.
- Mix the dye bath to make it even.
- Carefully put the material to be dyed into the dye bath. Bring the temperature to 90 degrees very gently. The dye bath should never boil.
- Stir the mixture slowly and gently (otherwise the strands will get tangled) and let sit at 90 degrees for 20 minutes.
- Let cool slowly, preferably in the saucepan. The dye is also absorbed during cooling.
- You can also dye it at 600 watts in the microwave for 4 minutes (per 100g of wool). Make sure it is wet enough.
- Let the material to be dyed soak in water a few hours in advance. This allows a greater homogeneity of the dye.
