What is pancake de chine?

The pancake comes from the Latin Crispus which means curly or wavy. Crepe is a silk that has been subjected to a very strong twist (and heating) to deform the fibers and give direction to it.

It is therefore a silk that has been worked to have a wavy effect.

Tip: it is best to wash your silk before painting it. This is to remove a maximum of product residue used during manufacturing.
